I, along with my colleagues are working to pursue policy which would enable family members to care for their loved ones at home while expanding assisted living care in Ohio's communities. Ensure our parents and grandparents are given excellent care and treated with the respect they deserve by adequately funding nursing homes.

Youth ages 8-13 from the Akron area, have been invited to spend an exciting fun filled day of fishing and wild life adventure with me, State Representative Vernon Sykes!
Fun and fishing will take place at Wild Life District Three, 912 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron on Monday, August 15th. The event is free for all children participating; bait, tackle, lunch and assistance will be provided. All organizations participating must provide both transportation and parental permission for their participants.

I, along with my colleagues fight state policies which would force local governments to cut vital services like police and fire protection, snow removal and garbage pick up. Stop pass-the-buck budgeting by protecting local governments from drastic cuts which will force them to raise property and income taxes.

Vernon Sykes is an educator, public official, mentor, and tireless advocate for Ohio's disenfranchised. He believes education is a critical component of future success, and he speaks on that subject with an expert voice and an impressive background.
He holds a bachelor's degree in organizational behavior from Ohio University, a master's degree in social and applied economics from Wright State University, a master's of public administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a doctorate in urban studies from the University of Akron.
